Skopje in short

Skopje is two cities separated by a river. On one side, a huge Ottoman bazaar of mosques, caravanserais and grill houses. On the other, a state-funded rebuild of neoclassical facades and enormous statues.

The contrast is strange and genuinely interesting, and the whole centre is walkable in an afternoon.
