Ohrid in short
Lake Ohrid is three million years old and clear enough to see the bottom well out from shore. The town stacked above it holds a fortress, a Roman amphitheatre and a cliff-edge church that appears on every Macedonian postcard.
It is the slowest stop on the Balkan route and most people end up staying longer than planned.
